So many words will have been written today about Steve Jobs. For me he was a great inspiration, somebody who could capture the imagination of millions and who could dream great dreams and bring them to life.
His speech at the 2005 Stanford Commencement Address was an amazing rallying call to all those who believe that they have a great work to offer:
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you havn’t found it yet, keep looking, and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
What do you really want to do? What would really make you get out of bed in the morning looking forward to what the day ahead might promise?
I know I have great work ahead of me, but as yet I don’t know what it is. In Steve Jobs’ words I know that I have the promise that if I persevere then I will find my dream. For Steve there were tough times, but he persevered and to see him present to a fanatical audience was to know that he was doing what he loved.
So don’t give up on your dreams. Persevere with the pursuit and follow the pathways that are opened up before you. True happiness is to love what you do, to know that you’re making a difference, and to look forward to every day with eager anticipation.
Thanks Steve – for the iPod, the iPhone, the iPad, but most of all, for the iNspiration.
