What Do You Want from Internet Marketing?

Recently my blogging has slowed down to a trickle.  It’s not for want of interest, it’s just that I’ve got so many internet marketing projects on the go at the moment that something had to give, and unfortunately my blog writing has suffered!

The thing that has really amazed me is the number of visitors to my blog.  I havn’t written a blog post for over three months, and in that time the number of visitors has almost trebled.  I can’t explain this, but I’m very grateful to know that there is so much interest out there in internet marketing.

The increase in numbers really got me thinking – just why do people visit my blog?  I’m not the most erudite of writers, and there are many other internet marketing blogs out there.  But the visitors keep coming in increasing numbers, so I must be doing something right!  The same is true of my YouTube channel – over 63,000 views of my videos.

Let’s just think for a moment about the blog site title – “Easier Internet Marketing”.  Is it the possibility of an easier way into internet marketing that attracts readers?  In my view, ‘easier’ means less mumbo jumbo.  I want to take away the mystique that surrounds internet marketing, and show people just what can be achieved.

I’m no expert – there are enough of those around already.  In recent months it would appear that everybody (and their dog) has been jumping on the one-to-one mentoring band wagon.  It can be quite lucrative, so who can blame them?  I’ve been part of a mentoring scheme in the past, and I can vouch for the fact that it does make a real difference – provided that your mentor is the genuine article!

I have been fortunate to have Neil Stafford of the Internet Marketing Review as my personal mentor, and under his guidance I have learnt a great deal.  He has also helped me to develop my real interest in the use of educational videos.

How do you find the right mentor?  One clear step is to join a couple of online forums, and see whose name is being positively referred to.  Make enquiries, ask for testimonials, and do your homework!   It will be worth it in the end.

Keep dreaming those big dreams,

Graham

    Graham,
You bring up a really great point about internet marketers, especially newbies should try to find an experienced internet marketer to learn the ends and outs of this very competitive industry. As you mentioned, finding a legitimate mentor can be a daunting task. I also provide mentorship in strategies such as search engine optimization. Thanks for the info!

Graham. The answer to your increased traffic is easy. I have noticed the same. This is the effect of Google’s decision to penalize sites with low quality content. The early Internet was driven by good quality writing and useful information. Early versions of the international network like AOL were academic networks. By the lat 90′s everyone and his dog (literally) was jumping on the Internet. By the 2005′s everyone was learning to beat the Google ranking algorithms to rank high, with low quality, keyword loaded, junk sites. Love the or hate them, Google is making an attempt to deal with low quality content and this means that guys that can actually write original material, like me and you, are once again able to rank against guys who throw a lot of money at SEO but have rubbish content.
